Trump hints at pulling Ed Martin's nomination

President Donald Trump suggested he is withdrawing the controversial nomination of Ed Martin to be the District of Columbia's top federal prosecutor.

“We have somebody else that will be great,” Trump told reporters Thursday. “We have somebody else who we’ll be announcing.”

Martin had come under siege in recent days after Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said he would not support the him, citing Martin’s the nominee's comments about the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and his work in representing alleged rioters. That announcement from Tillis, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, presented a major obstacle to Martin’s confirmation.

Trump also suggested he would place Martin somewhere else in his administration.
