Federal authorities are investigating a “targeted terror attack” in Boulder, Colorado, FBI Director Kash Patel said.
“Several victims” have been attacked near Pearl Street in Boulder, police said just after 3 p.m. local time on Sunday. Authorities ordered the evacuation of the 1200, 1300 and 1400 blocks of Pearl Street between Walnut and Pine around. “PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA,” police said.
Witnesses told local outlets that they saw someone throwing bottles at people participating in a walk to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza.
It’s not immediately clear what prompted the incident or how many people have been injured. UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora told 9News they have received two patients connected to the attack.
“We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado,” Patel wrote on social media. “Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
Colorado Democratic Rep. Joe Neguse said he’s “praying hard” for the victims. “We are closely monitoring, and are in contact with local law enforcement regarding the horrific attack on Pearl Street Mall. Praying hard for the victims,” he wrote on X.
