The successor to Nintendo’s flagship console was finally revealed last week, but pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have been selling out fast. Retailers are routinely dropping fresh stock, but you’ll need to be quick if you want to secure one. Right now, the console is currently sold out everywhere but the Nintendo Store, but you need an invitation.
If you’re in the US, there’s finally some movement. After initially delaying pre-orders due to concerns over tariffs and market conditions, Nintendo has announced it will begin rolling out Switch 2 pre-order invites from 8 May for users in the US and Canada. Eligible players can register their interest through the My Nintendo Store, but invites are only going to those with at least 12 months of paid Switch Online membership and a minimum of 50 gameplay hours before 2 April.
If you’re hoping to secure a Switch 2 ahead of launch day, we’re tracking all the latest updates and live pre-order drops from all the major retailers. Keep checking back for real-time updates as pre-orders roll out.
Mario Kart World details
Nintendo has confirmed Mario Kart World will release alongside the Switch 2 on 5 June 2025. It’s the most ambitious entry yet, with 24-player races, a sort of open-world, dynamic weather and a new Knockout Tour mode where players are eliminated mid-race.
There’s boat racing now. And rail grinding. Because of course there is. I’ve got more details in my article below:

Will gamers pay the price for the Switch 2?
Now onto pretty much the only drawback and it’s perhaps the biggest one of all - the price. £395 (£429 with the Mario Kart World bundle) is a huge price to pay and puts it in the realms of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S pricing, meaning inevitable comparisons will be drawn.
Hardcore Nintendo fans will not think twice about spending that kind of money but it’s a colossal purchase for those who are undecided. Yet the upgrades over the Switch, which launched at £299 itself don’t forget, make it feel like it’s a worth £100 more than its predecessor, even if the price of Mario Kart World (£75) is questionable considering Bananza is priced £10 cheaper.

My hands-on impressions of the Switch 2
The Switch is already a brilliant console, perfectly illustrated by how many units it has sold, and the Switch 2 is even better in pretty much every way.
Having hands on with it and a selection of games and upgrades releasing on the console, resolution and performance are notably improved both handheld and docked, in this case bigger is better with larger screens and controls meaning the games are easier to play, the ability to play huge games such as Cyberpunk on the go is great.

The Duskbloods Switch 2 details
FromSoftware is releasing The Duskbloods exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. It’s a gothic, steampunk-style multiplayer game – a first for the studio – with a PvPvE setup that sees players competing as “Bloodsworn” characters during some kind of apocalyptic mess.
Not much else is clear yet, but each character apparently has their own abilities, so expect some class-based chaos.

Will we see any Nintendo Switch 2 drops over the weekend?
Probably not. I didn’t see any drops last weekend, and if the PS5 restock chaos taught me anything, it’s that retailers don’t usually bother with weekend drops. Most seem to treat Saturdays and Sundays as off-days for console launches – maybe they assume we’ve all got better things to do.
So if you're still hunting down a Switch 2, you’ll likely have to wait until Monday for your next proper chance to secure one.

Consoles are floating in and out of stock at Kaleidoscope and Freemans
Oh, and just as expected, it looks like the Switch 2 is back in stock at Kaleidoscope and Freemans. I expect it to keep coming back in and out of stock throughout the day and into the weekend, so keep checking.
If it’s not showing up for you at either retailer, try using incognito mode in your browser – that seems to have done the trick for us.

Kaleidoscope and Freemans sell out of Switch 2 consoles
Both Freemans and Kaleidoscope have now sold out, but there’s a chance more consoles could come back.
So where can you buy the Nintendo Switch 2 right now? Nowhere, but I’ll be keeping an eye out over the weekend – even if the chances of a restock are slim.

There are Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in stock at Freemans
In fact, Kaleidoscope’s sister brand Freemans also has the Switch 2 in stock – both the Switch 2 standalone console, as well as the Mario Kart World bundle.
The two brands are likely sharing stock.

Kaleidoscope drops Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders
This is a weird one. Kaleidoscope – you know the online women’s fashion brand – has just dropped the Nintendo Switch 2, including the Mario Kart World bundle. Weird, I know – Kaleidoscope is certainly branching out.
